Reflections from My First Year Teaching
After a whirlwind first year teaching, I realized how intricate the education system truly is, and how difficult it can be when first starting out. I found myself constantly questioning decisions I was making, wondering why things are the way they are, and worrying about how I could best help my students without burning out. That is why I decided to start this journey of journaling my experiences, in hopes that I can help a new teacher feel less alone, less guilty, and more seen. I hope you enjoy my many mistakes, strong opinions, and my students’ wonderful personalities.
